Murphy to fill vacant board of education seat

NORWICH – Norwich Pharmaceuticals Human Resources Service Manager Luke Murphy has been appointed to fill a vacant Norwich Board of Education seat following the resignation of Sally Chirlin at the end of the board’s Sept. 12 meeting.
Murphy currently manages recruiting, contingent staffing, relocation, wellness and public relations for Norwich Pharmaceuticals, where he’s been employed since November of 2008. Prior to that, he worked with a regionally owned staffing and placement company.
A 1994 graduate of NHS, Murphy said he’s hoping to create ties between the local business community and the school district and its graduates, as “many students in the region aren’t aware of what’s right here in their backyard.”
His mission, he added, is to be a “team player” and he’s looking forward to playing an instrumental role in “opening those doors” of opportunity on the local level. He was unanimously approved Tuesday to fill the remainder of Chirlin’s term.
