AFTON – An 61-year-old Afton man has been charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Samuel A. Muir was taken into custody following a Chenango County Sheriff’s Office investigation into the possession and sale of cocaine in the village. According to law enforcement officials, Muir was found to be in possession of approximately one-and-a-half ounces of cocaine and numerous prescription pills.
