Pothos remains in custody on $100,000 bail

NORWICH – A Town of German man accused of fourth degree conspiracy, a class E felony, will remain in custody at the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail, following his arraignment in county court Friday.

Vasilios K. Pothos, 61, was indicted by the Chenango County Grand Jury on Sept. 22 for allegedly conspiring with another person to commit the crime of third degree arson, a class C felony, in an alleged attempt to hire another individual to set fire to a vehicle.

During Pothos’ arraignment, District Attorney Joseph McBride reminded the court that the defendant has ties outside the country and requested bail remain at $100,000. And while the district attorney’s office did not seek an order of protection, McBride stressed that the case involves confidential informants, whose safety he wished to maintain.
