Hospice begins monthly seminars

NORWICH – Hospice of Chenango County’s Bereavement Department will begin a year long program for those who have lost a significant person in their life and may need help with both practical and emotional matters. While Hospice still offers the more traditional support groups, this is something a bit different. “We wanted to widen the scope of our support,” explains Bereavement Coordinator Maureen Casey-Bryant.
Hospice will present a different topic and speaker the 3rd Thursday of every month beginning on Thursday, Oct. 20 from 1:30-3 p.m. Each program will take place at The Chenango Health Network located in the Eaton Center in Norwich. The first talk will be about maintaining your home through the four seasons we face in Chenango County. If you are a widow and your husband always took care winterizing your home, this might be the perfect seminar for you.
Bill Wigdzinski from Quaranta Housing Services affiliated with Opportunities for Chenango will be on hand to talk about winterizing your home. He will also share programs that are offered to Chenango County citizens regarding home maintenance. If you would like to attend the October 20th seminar, or have any questions about upcoming programs offered by the Hospice Bereavement Department, give Maureen Casey-Bryant a call at 334-3556 or visit Hospice’s website at www.hospicechenango.org.
Hospice of Chenango County is a non-profit health care agency that provides physical, emotional, and spiritual care to people in the final stage of a life limiting illness. Most patients receive care in their home, however, services are also available in a hospital or residential health care setting. Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance companies cover a portion of the cost of care. Hospice absorbs the remaining costs so a patient’s family never receives a bill for services. Medications related to the terminal diagnosis are covered and durable medical equipment is provided when needed. Referrals come from health care providers and, increasingly from families in need of help.
