Hello, Patrollers! The DVD Patrol is cruising the high seas and there were a lot of interesting fish on the sea. In our case, we are fishing for a lot of different movies and this week has some great choices. The Toddster has been using some really good bait and there are even a few pirates around as well. Get your poles ready because we have to launch the bait and here we go!

New on DVD

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - The hunt for treasure for a pirate is a neverending journey especially for Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). He’s always the target of other pirates he’s met over the years and one of the most infamous ones has his eyes set on Jack. Blackbeard (Ian McShane) wants him because he might know the location of the Fountain of Youth. He recruits a beautiful siren named Angelica (Penelope Cruz) whose path has crossed with Jack’s before and they do have a bit of history. Along the way, Jack and his merry band of pirates encounter everything from zombies to mermaid who like to lure men to the bottom of the sea. Will Jack be able to get the treasure for himself and outwit Blackbeard before he has to walk the plank? A fifth Pirates is rumored to be in the works with Depp on board. Also, Depp is about to star in another off beat role in “The Run Diary” coming soon to theaters. 

Bad Teacher - Not everyone likes their jobs. Meet Elizabeth (Cameron Diaz). Elizabeth was a middle school teacher and she only did as much as she had to. She also likes to do things her way especially when she likes to party a bit too much. She’ll have to change a few things when she sets her eyes on Scott (Justin Timberlake). She’ll have to change a few things if she wants to win his favor and get the things she wants. Elizabeth also has some compeitition because another teacher named Amy (Lucy Punch). The Gym Teacher Russell (Jason Segal) also has his sights on Elizabeth and will stop at nothing to get his first date with her. Who will get Elizabeth or will Elizabeth get her man? Some great DVDs with Diaz in include “Knight and Day,” “Charlie’s Angels,” and “The Green Hornet.” Timberlake can also be seen in the new action movie “In Time” with Amanda Seifried coming to theaters soon.

Batman:Year One - When heroes get started, their mission is not always as easy as they think. Bruce Wayne saw his parents get killed and he made it his mission to be the best he could as a fighter and a detective. He needed a disguise to make his plan complete and a bat became his inspiration. He meets a Gotham City detective named Jim Gordon who does his job the best he can despite working in a system of corrupt cops. Someone else making trouble is Selena Kyle who’s a thief that Bruce has his eye on. As Batman, he had been made a target to be stopped. Will the new Dark Knight Detective be able to stay ahead of the cops and stop the lady thief who has her eyes set on Gotham City? Another great movie on the way involves Batman teaming with the Justice League in “Justice League: Doom” coming out in 2012.

Captain America - There are movies that many always remember. The Toddster has one just for you. Steve Rogers was always a loyal soldier who always followed orders and then he decided to give it up to find a life for himself and what he could do as an artist. All that is about to change when he meets Simon Mills (Len Birman). Birman was an old friend of Steve’s father who he finds out was a great scientist and crimefighter who was nicknamed ‘captain America until his death. Simon wanted him to carry on his Dad’s work but Steve doesn’t want to do it. After an attempt on his life and is almost killed, Steve is given a drug that gives him Super Powers. Nor seeing much choice, Steve goes after the people who try to kill him. Will he find a way to stop them before a bomb can set off? Another movie is also available on DVD called “Captain America: Death Too Soon” where Cap takes on a terrorist who wants to drop a chemical bomb with an aging drug if he doesn’t get what he wants now on DVD. 

Monte Carlo - People always have twin somewhere in the World. Selena Gomez does double duty on this one when she plays Grace. Grace wants to see the World but has had to work for what she wants. The one thing she wants right now is a trip to Europe. Accompanying her are Emma (Katie Cassidy) and Meg (Leighton Meester). Along the way, Grace is mistaken for Cordelia who just happens to be an heiress and has everything she has ever wanted. Grace decides to take advantage of it. How long will she be able to get away with it? Meester can be seen on Tuesdays on Gossip Girl airing on the CW network and Gomez can seen on the first two seasons of “Wizards of Waverly Place” now available on DVD.

Our fish have all been caught and it’s time to take the boat in for the day. Next week another round with a certain avenger and a little more here and there. Until next time, The Toddster will return.
