SOUTH OTSELIC – After Otselic Valley scored the opening basket 45 seconds into play, Edmeston rattled off 11 straight points, and led by double digits throughout the final three quarters in an opening-game win over OV Tuesday evening.
Savanna Fistrowicz dominated the painted area in the opening half scoring all 14 of her game-high points. Rachel Slentz added 10 points in the win.
OV’s Kayla Thorp scored on a putback with 7:13 left in the first quarter for the game’s first points. Fistrowicz converted a free throw to start her team’s run, and Shelby McCall’s driving layup put the Panthers in front for good.
To start the second half, OV’s Niki Lidell canned a shot from just inside the three-point arc, and Kayleena Manwarren followed with a three ball moments later closing the gap to 27-16. The Vikings forced 10 Edmeston turnovers in the third quarter, but failed to convert those opportunities.
Hope Reynolds made two three-pointers for OV and led her team with eight points.
