LAURENS – Strong second and third quarters allowed B-G to open a double figures lead, and the Bobcats withstood Laurens’ fourth-quarter comeback to open the season with a victory Tuesday night.
Junior guard Brooks Harmon led the Bobcats with 21 points, and senior Ryan Porter added 18. “We’re just learning how to win,” said B-G first-year coach, Greg Warren. “Our focus is on being a good defensive team, and we did a good job in the middle quarters. Our defense kind of cracked at the end of the game.”
Laurens nailed eight three-pointers, and led by five threes from Ryan Holmes, nearly pulled off the comeback win. Holmes had 21 points in the loss.
