G-MU 59, Delhi 55 (OT)
COPES CORNERS – Facing unbeaten Delhi, G-MU made up a 19-point first-half deficit Tuesday evening to defeat the Bulldogs.
Sporting just a seven-man roster, the Raiders entered the fourth quarter down eight points. Greg Delaney hit two three-pointers in the fourth scoring eight of his 12 points, and DeMario Reed added five points to force the extra period.
Once in overtime, Reed scored the go-ahead bucket, and sophomore Galen Wind came off a screen to score on a layup for the final margin. “They stuck with it tonight and continued to play,” said G-MU coach Bill Hartman of his team. “That’s a credit to the seven kids, knowing that is all that they have. It’s a gratifying result, especially against a bigger school that was 3-0 coming into tonight.”
Reed led four G-MU players in double figures scoring 16 points. Wind netted 15, Delaney had the aforementioned dozen, and Eddie Ray Cotton bucketed 11. “The balance we had on offense was a pleasant surprise,” Hartman said. “If we can continue to post those kinds of results, we’ll be a tough club – provided we stay out of foul trouble.”
Delhi created its early advantage by dominating the offensive and defensive boards, Hartman said. Tyler Hymers had 18 points for Delhi in a losing effort.

CHENANGO BRIDGE – Chenango Valley went to the offensive glass with gusto Tuesday night taking advantage of its superior size over the Blackhawks.
Five CV players had at least eight points with Megan Pipher’s 11 leading the way. “The biggest difference was that they were physically bigger and stronger than us,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. “I don’t have the official rebounding numbers, but I am guessing they had between 20 and 30 second-chance points. We couldn’t keep them off of the boards.”
Julianne Heggie had 14 points for Oxford, and Brooke Noble led Oxford with seven rebounds. “There is always room for improvement, but I was pleased with our effort,” Palmer said. “We played hard for all 32 minutes.”
