Norwich Jewish Center granted $10,000

The Greater Norwich Foundation recently announced a grant of $10,000 to the Norwich Jewish Center in honor of Jack Weinman, in recognition of his lifetime contributions to the Norwich community.  Weinman, former president of the Norwich Shoe Company, has served on the boards of several civic and charitable organizations, as well as being an individual philanthropist since his arrival in Norwich over 65 years ago. During his tenure as trustee, the Greater Norwich Foundation has grown to the extent that it distributes about $300,000 annually in the greater Norwich area. The grant will be used to assist the Jewish Center in repairing damage caused by vandalism. Pictured at last week’s check presentation are the Jewish Center’s James Fertig, Jack Weinman and Fred Miers of the Greater Norwich Foundation.
