Phoenix Project dancers featured Sunday at Gus’ Steakhouse
NORWICH – A family-owned and operated Norwich eatery and home-grown award winning dance troupe are teaming up to offer a “White Winter” holiday dinner theater event on Sunday.
The Phoenix Project Dance company performs at 3 and 7 p.m. on Dec. 18 for patrons of Gus’ Steakhouse, a state Rt. 12 restaurant that has served the community since 2005. Gus’ sponsors several fundraisers for various organizations year-round.
Owner Maria Stamatatos said it was her love for dance and pride knowing that Norwich is home to a professional dance troupe that inspired her to sponsor the event.
“Dance is a wonderful art because it makes people happy. I didn’t realize until recently that we had our own professional dance company and how wonderful they are. I wanted to do something to help keep these dancers here, to support Phoenix Project so they won’t ever leave for another company,” she said.
In a timely gesture, a Christmas tree flanking the entrance to Gus’ Steakhouse is decorated in red, white and blue with yellow ribbons to welcome military men and women home safely from Iraq.
“They are our ‘Happy Holiday Heroes,’” added Stamatatos.
