SHERBURNE – After a slow start, Sherburne-Earlville quickly gained command of its game with Sauquoit Valley.
Down 5-0 in the first minute, S-E outscored Sauquoit Valley 17-6 to finish the period, and extended that margin with a 23-6 second stanza. Paul Romanenko and Jesse Yerton hit two three-pointers apiece in the second quarter, and the Marauders had five of their seven treys during that eight-minute span. “We really picked up our defensive intensity after they took the early lead,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard. “The nice thing is that we had six different people score in the second quarter. I think depth is the strength of our team. We have nine guys that can score.”
Sam Caton had 12 points and eight rebounds to lead the Marauders. Austin Jasper scored 10, while Romaneko and Cole Hodges split 18 points evenly. Randy Briggs handed out a team-best seven assists.

CONKLIN – Norwich’s defense proved unyielding – again – Wednesday night at Susquehanna Valley.
The Tornado, who have won four straight games, have not allowed more than 31 points in any those contests. Too, the Tornado’s opposition has scored as many as 10 points in just three of the last 16 quarters. “We’re just playing tough defense and really getting after people,” said Norwich coach Josh Bennett.
Offensively, Bryn Loomis and Jennifer Borfitz scored 12 points apiece, and Hailey Dietrich added 11. Loomis scored all 12 of her points in the second half with Dietrich and Borfitz spearheading the first-half effort. “Tonight was the best we’ve played offensively,” Bennett said. “We really moved the ball well, and this is probably the most balanced team I have had. We’re not consistently making the shots that we should make, but when we do, we’ll go off.”

Off had eight of her points in the last quarter as the Storm were able to fend off Walton’s last-quarter comeback. Jordan Anderson handled more of the scoring load in the first half scoring 12 of her 19 points as UV established a 30-15 advantage.

OXFORD – Unatego raced to a 9-0 lead in the first quarter, led by 18 at halftime, and never allowed the lead to slip below 10 points in Wednesday’s victory at Oxford.
Casey Manzanero scored 19 points for Unatego, 12 of those coming in the first half when the Spartans built a 25-7 lead. “They just killed us on the offensive boards in the first half, especially the first quarter,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. “We did a good job with the press in the second half. I probably should have gone to that a little sooner.”
Oxford made it a 31-21 game with 4:21 to play in the fourth after a Jacquelyn Heggie bucket on the baseline and a Megan Golden layup. The Blackhawks failed to score the rest of the way.

The Wolverines secured several offensive rebounds after missed free throws, and made just enough charity tosses to hold off the Raiders. “We just aren’t boxing out well right now, but we’ll work on it at practice and we’ll get better at it,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson.
Karli Pochkar had 11 points, and added a clutch free throw late in the game to lead Worcester. Morgan Clark hit three three-pointers to finish with 11 points as well.
Blake Stensland bucketed 11 for G-MU, who dropped to 1-3 on the season. “The three teams we’ve lost to are solid teams,” Johnson said. “We haven’t lost to people we should beat or could beat. We’re having trouble scoring points, but we have some good shooters, and I think that will come around once we find our rhythm.”
