Celebrate the season with the Burns Sisters Holiday Show at 6OTS

OXFORD – This Saturday, at 7:30 p.m., 6 On The Square (6OTS) is proud to present The Burns Sisters. This special musical holiday show, that mixes traditions old and new with the famous Burns’ spunk and spirit, will bring together all ages in the joy and wonders of the season.
Growing up in Binghamton in a large family of twelve children, Marie, Jeannie and Annie’s family all sang together. Their father, the late John Burns, had an impressive career in politics, which developed a family culture that believed in standing up for the rights of all people. They still walk their talk and bring their beliefs, values and ideals into their music.
Marie is the soprano and sings high harmony. She plays rhythm mandolin and writes on guitar; loves the old-time sounds of early country and bluegrass and her lyrically thoughtful originals reflect this.
Tallest of the sisters, alto Jeannie loves rhythm and blues, and rock. She sings low harmonies. She plays rhythm acoustic guitar and flat picks a bit in the “closet.”
Annie is a second soprano and sings high or low harmonies depending on the song. She writes prolifically using either piano or guitar for accompaniment. She loves to belt out a rock ballad.
Although the Burns Sisters have produced solo albums, it seems their time spent apart has allowed them to explore different styles. Working back together, the trio sings with the authority and passion of a band that knows its place and is comfortable challenging the audience. They present meaning with seamless melodies and amazing vocals, especially their impeccable, sweet harmonies with a smoothness only sisters can impart. Their music is filled with warmth and strong conviction.
Unwind from the season’s stress, get a huge dose of Burns Sisters, and feel the love! Purchase tickets on-line at the discounted price of $20, (plus $2 service charge) until the date of the performance and $23 at the door. Ticket price for students, under age 18, are always $2; please call to make a student reservation! Doors open one-hour prior to show time.
