Two charged with felony drug possession

NORWICH – A pair of Norwich residents have been charged with felony drug possession following a weeks-long investigation by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and the Norwich City Police Department.

Jason A. Blackman, 34, and Peggy S. Barrows, 42, both of 17 1/2 King St., Norwich, were charged with fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell – a class D felony – in addition to misdemeanor charges of criminal possession of a switchblade knife and an electronic stun gun; seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; fifth degree conspiracy; second degree criminal nuisance; criminal use of drug paraphernalia and criminal possession of marijuana.

Authorities made the arrests following their execution of a search warrant and subsequent search of the defendant’s residence. According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies found numerous prescription medications that did not belong to the defendants, as well as packaging supplies and digital scales believed to be used for the sale of controlled substances and marijuana.
