YMCA reaches out in annual support campaign

NORWICH – Aspiring to secure the vision of building strong kids, families and communities, the Norwich Family YMCA recently brought its annual support campaign into full swing, reaching out to the community for help.

While the YMCA seeks community support throughout the year, this is the “the end of the year call for help,” said Jamey Mullen, executive director. “It’s really an attempt to reach out to our community to support what we do.”

With 3,500 brochures mailed out earlier this month, the organization aims to spread the message that it is a valued charity in the community and provides the support needed for a healthy mind, body and spirit, according to Mullen. This, he said, is the underlying purpose of the campaign.

“These contributions allow us to keep the doors open to local families who need the Y,” Mullen said. “Whatever support we get directly supports the YMCA mission in providing access to the facility and its programs.”
