Greene eatery reopens after five-month hiatus

GREENE – Back by popular demand, Our Place Restaurant and Lounge has re-opened its doors after a five month hiatus.
According to co-owners Robin and Mark Woodruff, the hiatus was indefinite until a public outcry led them to reconsider.
“They were dinging us after a month to get back in here and re-open,” said Robin.
The restaurant, just a few miles south of Greene on Rt. 12, will maintain their same menu which includes “the basic bar food” but with a few additions that make Our Place anything but basic.
“I’ve always loved to cook, so I brought a lot of my recipes here,” said Woodruff. The menu features homestyle meals such as lasagna and creamy ham and potato stew, which Woodruff explained would not normally find their way into a bar, right next to classics such as burgers, wings and fries.
The lounge will also feature a variety of games such as pool and darts which Woodruff said “keeps the place pretty busy.”
Woodruff stated that she was excited to re-open the doors and she expected plenty of continued support from the community. She explained that when she and her husband had first bought the building in 2007, previously Marco’s Italian Cuisine, they had done three months of renovations before completely moving in.
“It was a lot of hard work ... we practically gutted it in ‘07 ... new floors, moved the bar,” she said.
The restaurant and lounge will both be open from 2 p.m. until close, Thursday-Sunday, which Woodruff attributes to wanting to start slow this time.
“We can do parties and groups ... but what everyone comes for is the good food and drink and ... the good atmosphere,” she said. “It was nice to be missed but, we’re back!”
