Ambulance district coming up for a vote this month

NEW BERLIN – The Town of New Berlin will hold a vote this month to determine whether an ambulance district will be formed for the town.

“This has nothing to do with forming a not-for-profit or the Unadilla Valley ambulance service,” said Ross Iannello, supervisor.

Iannello went on to explain that the proposed tax district would only serve to create a new tax line in the budget specifically for EMS revenue and services “whether the ambulance comes from the village, CMT or Sherburne.”

He also stated that the separate tax line would potentially add more extensive oversight to the money allocated for EMS resources and give property owners a direct account of how much of their taxes are being used for that purpose.
