New on DVD
Contagion - There are things in the World that we should be afraid of but we’re too afraid too ask. In this case, the things we can’t see. Thomas Emhoff (Matt Damon) and his wife Beth (Gwyneth Paltrow) were just your average hard working couple just enjoying life. Beth traveled a lot for her job. After returning from a trip, Beth starts getting sick and no one knows what it is. The more they find out, the sicker she gets and what she has starts spreading. Thomas doesn’t know what to make of it and now what Beth has become an epidemic. Life has become hard and the government has stepped in find some type of cure. Will Thomas be able to find out what his wife has before it’s too late? Damon can currently be seen in “We Bought A Zoo” currently in theaters.
I Don’t How She Does It - Seeing how someone manages to work out their lives is a tricky thing. Kate (Sarah Jessica Parker) was a working mom and lawyer who made her life look easy with her husband Richard (Greg Kinnear). Kate’s life is about to get a little more complicated when she lands a new account that takes her traveling a bit more. While working, she meets a new associate named Jack (Pierce Brosnan) who is extremely attracted and Kate isn’t sure how to respond to him. Kate also finds out that Richard has gotten a new job offer and this makes their lives even trickier. What choice will Kate and Richard make? Parker can be seen in the complete seasons of “Sex in the City” available in stores now.
Now in Theaters
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - Battling Good and Evil is always a tricky thing. For Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr), this couldn’t be more of a problem. His girlfriend Irene (Rachel Mcadams) was working for Professor James Moriarty (Jared Harris) and he sees that she has become a liability. The Professor decides to have her killed. This sends Holmes into an obsession that he may not come out of. He also finds out that Moriarty has come up with a plan that will give him an empire to supply weapons to countries that are at war. Moriarty also targets Holmes’ partner Dr. Watson (Jude Law). Holmes must go after him to save him and his wife. This takes them in a race across Europe to see just what Moriarty has planned. Will they be able to stop him?
The Toddster’s Take - I enjoyed this movie a lot. Every time you think Holmes has found a way to stop Moriarty, he’s got him. and Vice Versa. The story was great and it’s just one big suspenseful moment after another. Downey and Law know their parts very well and it just comes naturally. Definitely worth your time.
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) was one of the IMF’s (Impossible Missions Force) best agents until his wife was killed. This put him in a prison in Russia. The IMF decided to bust Ethan out for a new mission that only he and his team can accomplish. Ethan finds out that a former Russian military man named Kurt Hendricks (Michael Nyqvist) has hatched a plan to unleash nuclear missiles that will destroy the Kremlin and the rest of the World. Ethan is too late to stop Hendricks at first when he’s able to blow up the Kremlin. This puts Ethan and his team on Ghost Protocol which means they are no longer associated with the United States and are branded criminals. Now Ethan and his team, without resources, must find a way to stop Hendricks once and for all. Can they do it?
The Toddster’s Take - This wasn’t a bad movie by any means. The story does slow down a lot in some spots and it gets bogged down in places. It does pick back up so it’s just one big roller coaster ride. Cruise always manages to find some way for his movies to do this. It was a lot better than the last one he did. It’s left open for another one. Whether there will be another one, that’s hard to say.
The Toddster has been busy but I had to start this year in some big way. Next week we’ll have even more movies for you. I hope everyone liked our end of the year special. Keep on plugging. The Patrol will be back next time.
