Norwich 46, Chenango Forks 26
NORWICH – After an eight-day layoff, Norwich resumed its winning ways taking its fourth straight game and 10th in 11 outings.
After a sluggish opening eight minutes, Norwich turned up the offense in the second quarter, and finished the stanza on an 18-2 run. Bryn Loomis scored 10 of her 16 points in the second, and Jennifer Borfitz scored five including a three-point play. “We did a nice job to end the second quarter,” said Norwich coach Josh Bennett. “I felt we didn’t execute as well on offense in the second half, and that was a little frustrating.”
Borfitz and Cassie Sutton chipped in with eight points apiece for the Tornado (10-2), who host Susquehanna Valley Friday night.

“We played very poor defense, especially in the first and third quarters,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “We gave up a lot of easy baskets, and put them on the foul line too many times.”

G-MU 59, Milford 43
COPES CORNERS – Coming off back-to-back losses and a postponed game, G-MU coach Bill Hartman was not certain of what he might see from his players Wednesday.
“I thought Milford was a team on the upswing, and we were kind of going the other direction,” Hartman said. “We were pretty satisfied with tonight’s outcome.”
The Raiders had four players in double figures scoring led by DeMario Reed’s 17 points. Tim French and Galen Wind chimed in with 13 apiece, and Eddie Ray Cotton netted 10.
The Raiders swung the momentum their way from the start with a change in its defensive approach. “We haven’t started well in most games we’ve played,” Hartman said, whose club has typically come out playing a zone defense. “After two losses, we felt we had nothing to lose. We went out and played man-to-man and pressed in an effort to change tempo for ourselves.”

Norwich loses to Sus Valley
NORWICH – After good starts, Norwich’s boys and girls dropped the final two games in 4-1 losses to STAC Central Division leader Susquehanna Valley.
The Tornado were unable to sustain the momentum of the first game, one in which it threw strikes down the line to pull out the opening-game win. “Susquehanna Valley found it in the second game, and there is a reason why their boys and girls are in first place,” said Norwich coach John McCumiskey.
Matt Gladstone topped the Tornado boys rolling a 596 series, while Logann Dolan’s 470 triple pace the NHS ladies.
Norwich visits Windsor today in a match rescheduled from Jan. 30.
