Supervisor Schlafer remembered

GUILFORD – Former Town of Guilford Supervisor Pershing Schlafer, passed away Monday at age 93.
“He was the finest gentleman I have ever known, honest and forthright. A wonderful family man and a good farmer. There aren’t many of those guys left, that’s for sure,” said retired Town of Afton Supervisor Robert D. Briggs, who served on the Chenango County Board of Supervisors alongside his friend.
Schlafer represented Guilford from 1991 to 1995.
Friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. in Sidney. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel. A complete obituary will appear in tomorrow’s edition. Arrangements under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
