United Way mini-golf fundraiser this weekend
NORWICH – The United Way will host its third annual miniature golf fundraising event on Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. at the American Legion, 29 Sheldon St.
Money raised in this enjoyable, man versus windmill event will go toward the 2012 United Way campaign. With 18 holes sponsored by local companies including United Way corporate sponsors NBT, Unison, Frontier, Sidney Federal Credit Union and Snyder Communications, the day promises to be a blast for family and friends while also raising money for a good cause.
“I really look forward to this event every year,” said Chenango United Way Director Elizabeth Monaco. “I encourage families to come and play a round of golf.”
Prizes will be awarded to the sponsor of the best obstacle, voted on by event participants throughout the day. Pressure is on for sponsors to outdo 2011 favorites, Monaco said. Last year, participants putted their way around a miniature model of the Agro Farma warehouse and later, through a beaver dam obstacle put together by Cook Park in Greene.
