Dolphins swim in state YMCA meet
BUFFALO – Thirty state-qualifying Norwich YMCA Dolphins swimmers competed in the 2012 New York State YMCA Championship meet, held March 16-18, in Buffalo.
The Dolphins team finishing with the highest rank was the Girls 9-10 team. earning an eighth-place finish out of 27 teams competing.
Melissa Stroh earned the most points for her individual races, scoring 25 total points for her team. The other Dolphin scorers were Saige Benedict (19), Daniel Zieno (13), Maya Blaisure (10), Skylar Wenzel (10), Hannah Collier (8), Curtis Woodard (4), Erin Gawronski (4), Danika Tworkowsky (3), Abby Voce (2), and Kaitlyn Blaisure (2).
Stroh was the lone Dolphins swimmer to finish with a top eight time. Benedict and Wenzel each finished in the top 16 in each of their individual events -- the only two Dolphins to do so.
No Dolphins swimmers qualified this season for the April 2012 YMCA Nationals swim meet. The 2013 New York YMCA state championship swim meet will be held in Ithaca..
