DVD Patrol

Be Afraid, Patrollers! The DVD Patrol has noticed the weather has taken a turn of the cold kind. The Toddster has some ideas that can warm you up and watching a good movie or two seems to be a pretty good one. We’ve got a teamup on the way, but more on that later. What do you say we take a look at our warm ideas

New on DVD

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked - Gilligan hasn’t got anything on these guys and this one is longer than a three hour tour. Alvin, Simon, and Theodore are back again and this time they go on a cruise with their pal Dave (Jason Lee). The boys are also joined by the Chipettes in the forms of Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor who are traveling on the boat too. The two groups are always trying to outdo each other especially where Alvin and Brittany are concerned. Things get complicated when they get swept off the boat and end up on an uncharted island. Now all of them will have to work together to survive on the island and along the way they meet a castaway who’s unique to say the least. Will our heroes get found or is this the swan song for Alvin and the gang? Catch “Alvin and the Chipmunks” and “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel” now on DVD in stores now.

Bending the Rules - It’s always a good idea to be nice to people because you might need their help at some point. For Theo Gold (Jamie Kennedy), he really needs a friend right now. As the District Attorney of New Orleans, he doesn’t like to lose a case but it happens to him where Detective Nick Blades (Edge) is concerned. Nick has always been a good cop and gets things done his own way. Maybe not by the book but they get done. For Theo, his luck goes from bad to worse when his father’s antique car is stolen. Theo has to get it back before his Dad gets back. The only one that can help him is Nick and Theo isn’t exactly on Nick’s Christmas card list. Will Theo be able to persuade Nick to help him? Another great action movie just out on DVD is “Recoil” starring Stone Cold Steve Austin and this one is on the Toddster’s list to get.

Also on DVD

The Sitter - Getting away for a little time to yourself is always a good thing and where having kids is concerned, having the right sitter is a good idea. Probably not for this guy. Noah (Jonah Hill) always liked to party a bit much and has managed to get himself suspended from college. Living with his Mom, he thinks he has it made in the shade. Noah’s Mom asks him for a favor and the neighbor kids need a sitter. Noah thinks this will be a cakewalk but he couldn’t be more wrong. Noah thinks he has a shot with a young lady he’s had his eye on but he has to take the kids along with him to find out more about her. A roadtrip while babysitting may not be the greatest idea he ever had. Can he get the girl and make sure the kids get back home in one piece? Hill can currently be seen in “21 Jumpstreet” now in theaters.

Transformers Prime - Cartoon Spotlight is here and this one is one of the Toddster’s latest favorites. Jack Darby was just a kid growing up trying to survive high school and have a part time job. His life is about to change forever when he discovers a motorcycle parked outside one night. He always wanted one, but this motorcycle is a lot more than that. Suddenly, the bike turns into a robot named Arcee. Arcee is a soldier who fights for the Autobots that are secretly fighting a war against an evil faction of robots called the Decepticons led by Megatron. Arcee takes Jack to meet her leader Optimus Prime and the other Autobots Bumblebee, Bulkhead, and Ratchet. Jack brings his friends Miko and Raf to meet them who end up needing their help. Can they all work together to see what the Decepticons are up to? Season 1 is in stores now and Season 2 can seen airing on Saturdays at 8:30 PM on the Hub Network.
We’re taking a break for another week. Our teamup is set for the first part of April, so keep an eye out for it. The Toddster will also be reviewing some new movies coming up and this weekend is “Wrath of the Titans,” which will be featured in an upcoming patrol.
