Oxford ranks at FFA Sub-states

OXFORD – Oxford Academy and Central School was chosen to host the FFA sub-state contest last Saturday. Five Oxford students also participated in the contest.

More than 250 students from 15 school districts across eastern New York State attended the event, which challenges students in a variety of contests that pertain to the agricultural curriculum of the club.

Agriculture teacher and FFA advisor Crystal Aukema said she was especially proud of the group that had worked so hard to prepare for the competition.

“It’s been such a pleasure to teach these students and watch them grow and come out of their shells,” said Aukema. She explained that all of the students who participated were competeing for either the first or second time. “Everyone started out a little nervous, but they’ve worked very hard and it shows.”
