Johnson City 15, Norwich 0

NORWICH – Johnson City senior Ryan Clark was too much for the Norwich hitters throwing a no-hitter Monday at Veterans Park to halt the Tornado’s four-game winning streak.

Clark had 11 strikeouts and no walks in front of error-free defense. Clark surrendered just one baserunner – a hit batsman – in an otherwise sterling performance.

“Clark was everything we thought he would be, and there was a pro scout there today,” said Norwich coach John Martinson. “He has a fantastic curveball and he really moves the ball around and hits his spots. We really struggled against a kid who is a division one player.”

Cody Arvanitakis had a three-run triple for JC, Clark aided his own cause with a two-run two-bagger, and Adam Kettle doubled twice and drove in three runs.

OTEGO – Last week’s four non-league games against STAC teams may pay big dividends for Unatego down the road.

The Spartans, who won three of four in those contests, broke open a close game with UV scoring seven runs in the fourth to pull away for the MAC win Monday.

Unatego strung six hits together to start the fourth inning. Quinn Barnhardt had a two-run double, while Travis Woods and Dan Shelton added RBI singles. “We like to challenge ourselves and get ready for our league, and those games last week really helped,” said Unatego coach Frank Microni.
