SHERBURNE – Clinton’s Austin Bouse hit a one-out, two-run homer in the top of the ninth to provide the margin of victory in Wednesday’s extra innings victory over Sherburne-Earlville.
Anthony Rizzo pitched three scoreless innings for the win. He worked out of a one-out bases loaded jam in the eighth inning to keep his team’s victory hopes alive.
“It was a great game, and our kids have nothing to be ashamed of,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks. “It was a tough one for Mike (Wilson, S-E pitcher) to lose.”
Wilson pitched all nine innings and allowed just four hits in the loss.
The Marauders’ lone run came in the fourth, and it was an answer to Clinton’s first run in the top half of the inning. Carter Cole singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Cole scored on Mick Khoury’s single to right field.
S-E hosts Mount Markham on Friday.

Unadilla Valley 7, Sidney 6
SIDNEY – Unadilla Valley bounced back from a loss to Unatego on Monday defeating defending MAC champion Sidney on Tuesday afternoon.
UV broke a 5-5 tie with two runs in the top of the seventh. Justin Hofer singled to lead off the inning, stole second, and came home on an error. Brandon Miles also scored for the Storm, courtesy of a Sidney wild pitch.
Sidney cut the lead in half in the last of the seventh, but a defensive gem by Hofer preserved the lead. Damian Zimmer laced a deep flyball to right-center that Hofer tracked down for the out. “Hoff covered a lot of ground all night, but that was a gem,” said UV coach Gary Alford. “I was proud of the boys tonight. To beat Sidney at anything is an accomplishment. They have some really good athletes down there.”
Nate Shackelton and Brett Smith had single runs batted in for UV, and Kurt Haycook doubled and scored one run.
Brandon Miles pitched six innings for the victory, and Smith finished the seventh for the save.

SHERBURNE – Clinton scored six runs in the top of the second to wipe away Sherburne-Earlville’s early lead in Wednesday afternoon’s victory over the Marauders.
Maureen Lewis was 3-for-4 with two RBI for Clinton. Shayna Fick and Donna Walker also had three hits to support winning pitcher Mariah Gibson. Gibson struck out 10 and allowed just three S-E hits.
Maisy French was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases to lead Sherburne-Earlville.

NEW BERLIN – Defending Class D Section IV champion Deposit saddled UV with its second loss in as many days ending Wednesday’s contest in five innings.
Lead-off hitter Mackenzie Martin went 4-for-4 with five runs scored, and she led off the game with a solo homer. Haley Linkroum added a three-run base-clearing blast in the fifth.
“They’re such a big hitting team, but we also gave them more than they should have,” said UV coach Eileen Lawyer, whose club committed nine errors.
Tuesday, UV was upended by Sidney, 20-5. Games statistics were not available.

B-GA sweeps four-way meet
BAINBRIDGE – B-G/Afton’s boys and girls had nearly identical point totals in outdistancing Delhi, Deposit, and Oxford in Wednesday’s high school track and field meet.
Nikiah Gaydorus had four overall wins for the Bears - three in individual events – and B-G/A took nine events overall scoring 121.5 points to easily defeat runner-up Delhi, who finished with 92.5 points.
The Bears’ boys polled 122.5 total points running away from second-place Delhi, who had 65.5.
On the track side of the equation, Noah Ives and Connor Fuller each won two individual events. B-G/Afton also swept the three relays to garner a significant advantage. The Bears’ Pedro Aparicio (shot put) and Chris Puerile (discus) won in the field.

NEW BERLIN – Unatego’s boys won all but one event in a three-way meet at Unadilla Valley, while the Spartans girls outdistanced the host Storm to complete a sweep.
UV’s David Bloomquist had the lone victory for his squad taking the 800 meters in 2:09.
On the girls’ side, UV’s Nikkole Beadle was a double winner taking the shot put and discus. Hannah Lazarus captured the 3,000 meters, and UV added victories in the 400- and 3,200-meter relays.

SHERBURNE – In its first home meet of the season, Sherburne-Earlville’s boys picked up wins in a tri-meet with Canastota topping the Raiders 78-63, while also easing past Owen D. Young, 107-22.
The Marauders used a sweep of the field events to mount its points advantage. Brennon Bennett was a three-event winner taking the long jump, triple jump, and high jump; Brian Campbell notched a pair of wins in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, and Jonah Piatti swept the throws – discus and shot put.
