Two candidates run for S-E school board vacancy

SHERBURNE – Two candidates have submitted petitions to run for an open seat on the Sherburne-Earlville School District Board of Education: Thomas Caton and Chad Bohnert, both of Earlville.
Caton is no stranger to the board, having served five years. He stepped down in the election last year, he said, in order to give others a chance to serve. He is currently finishing out former board President Doug Shattuck’s term, which is up at the end of June. Shattuck left unexpectedly in the fall.
Bohnert was a candidate for the board of education last spring. He is the father of two children in the district and manages the marketing and sales department for Zogby International, a marketing research firm in Utica. He is a lifelong resident of Earlville and graduate of the S-E Class of 1996.
The school board positions are volunteer and are three-year terms.
District residents will have the opportunity to meet the candidates at 6:30 p.m., May 7 in the high school auditorium, and later, on May 15, to cast their votes for either candidate and also for the 2012/2013 spending plan.
