BINGHAMTON – Norwich’s best hitting game against STAC opposition this season was overshadowed by Sam Stento’s game-winning triple.
Stento lashed a three-bagger into the gap that scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to give the Saints a comeback win.
It was Stento’s only hit of the game and only hard-hit ball for her club on the day. Norwich, meanwhile, struck for 20 basehits and held a 20-5 statistical edge.
“We’re focusing on getting a bat on the ball, and we knocked the cover off of it today,” said Norwich coach Scott Moore. “You have to score runs, but we also have to keep the other team off of the bases. It was a real heart-breaker.”
Norwich scored four runs in the top of the seventh to grab the lead. Sarah Miller tripled and scored on a Morgan Loucks single. Molly Moore followed with a single, Katie Callahan smacked a two-run double for the lead, and Jaime Berger’s single gave NHS a two-run cushion.
Miller, Berger, Logan Thompson, and Shelby Condon all had three hits for Norwich (5-5).
Seton took advantage of three Norwich errors, 11 base on balls, and three hit batters to accumulate its baserunners.

“It was three up and three down most of the game, and both teams made some great defensive plays,” said G-MU coach Tina Cole. “We did everything right in the field.”
