Fire destroys McDonough camp

McDONOUGH – Fire and emergency personnel from multiple districts across the county responded to a fully involved structure fire Wednesday night that completely destroyed a camp at 145 East Shore Lane on Genegantslet Lake.

The blaze was reported at approximately 6:20 p.m., and it was unknown at first whether the camp’s owner – whose name was not released – was trapped inside, said McDonough Fire Chief Donald Granger. According to the owner’s wife, if her husband’s truck were there, chances were he was in the camp. Luckily, said Granger, that was not the case.
