Chenango Valley 5, Norwich 1
NORWICH - Defending Class B state champion Chenango Valley was led by the pitching of Dominik Forbidussi and the hitting of Adam Greene and Austin Lewis in a victory over the Purple Tornado (7-6) Friday afternoon.
Forbidussi pitched six strong innings giving up just a single run to the Tornado, a Cody Barnes RBI single that scored older brother Ben Barnes in the fourth.
Greene doubled in one run and hit a two-run single in the third, and Austin Lewis had two hits, one a triple, in a 2-for-2 day. Greene added a diving catch in the last inning on the foul ball to put a stamp on the CV win. “Chenango Valley is an extremely athletic team that doesn’t hurt itself and plays with fantastic confidence,” said Norwich coach John Martinson. “We did a better job at the plate, but we hurt ourselves on defense making four errors in the first three innings.”
Dennis Oralls had two hits for Norwich, who play at Owego Tuesday.

Oxford 1, Greene 0
GREENE – In four years facing each other, Oxford pitcher Jacquelyn Heggie had yet to outduel fellow senior, Greene’s Rebecca Hanrahan.
Friday, Heggie and Oxford ended the four-season drought.
Heggie kept the Trojans off the board with a nice blend of speed and pinpoint location in a shutout win.
Heggie and Hanrahan each had seven strikeouts, but it was Heggie’s ability to shut down Greene’s top three hitters that proved the difference. “She deserves all the credit, and she had our best hitters off balance,” said Greene skipper Rick Smith of Heggie.
Trojans stalwarts Hanrahan, Taylor Ellis, and Caitlin Willis were a combined 0-for-8 at the plate. Ellis had 11 straight hits this week until facing the Blackhawks and Heggie.
“We played them two years ago when Rebecca had a no-hitter, and I think Jackie threw a three-hitter,” Smith said. “Both pitchers threw clean games tonight, and we knew that Jackie is tough when she is on.”
Oxford scored the game’s lone run in the third inning. Lauren Parks scored on Lacey Barry’s groundball to shortstop. The throw home from Taylor Ellis beat Parks, but Greene’s catcher was unable to hold the ball.
