City honored by NYCOM and Empire State Report

NORWICH – City officials were given the spotlight during the New York State Conference of Mayors 25th Annual Local Government Achievement Awards earlier this month, when they were granted second place in the economic development category of the program.

The city was recognized by NYCOM and Empire State Report magazine for its collaborative work with the DCMO BOCES Carpentry and Building Construction Program in rehabilitating a burned out property at 49 Front St. Since 2010, BOCES students have undertaken the construction of a new house on the property as a learning project while the city has been footing the bill for building materials, along with any specialized services needed throughout the process.
