Car Museum unveils new exhibit, celebrates 15th anniversary
NORWICH – The Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich unveils the “Crystal Collection” on Saturday in celebration of the establishment’s 15th anniversary.
The collection is made up of vehicles from exhibits presented in the museum in prior years, such as a 1923 Laraby Fire Truck from the “Red Lights and Sirens” display and a 1959 T-Bird from the “Nifty Fifties” exhibit. Other returning exhibits include “Cars Made in New York State,” “Wild Things and Wild Rides,” and the “Classes of ‘56 and ‘57.”
Saturday will be the grand opening of the exhibit with WCDO doing a live radio remote from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Prizes will be given away throughout the day.
“Our first 15 years have been wildly successful beyond any expectation,” said Executive Director Marc Michaels. “We’re looking to continue that growth in the next 15 years as we get out in the community more.”
Michaels plans to have the museum participate in area parades and events in and around the Norwich area. The upcoming Chenango Wine Festival and Sidney Hometown Day Parade are just a few of the museum’s new ventures, in addition to return trips to Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival and the Chenango Blues Festival, said Michaels.
“Saturday is going to be a great time and a great way to kick off the year,” said Michaels.
The exhibit will run until the middle of April 2013. For more information, call 334-AUTO or visit classiccarmuseum.org.
