Legion unveiling new flag set up on Memorial Day

NORWICH – The Norwich American Legion Post 189 will unveil its new flag set-up on Memorial Day following the parade and West Park ceremony.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. Monday on East Main Street and will conclude in West Park in Norwich. There will be memorial services for members of the armed services who gave and risked their lives in combat.

A 21-gun salute will precede a wreath hanging in honor of the fallen soldiers. Chief Joseph Angelino will be this year’s guest speaker.

“It’s a really special time,” said Post Commander Christopher Thompson. “It’s about vets helping vets and taking care of each other.”
