Otselic man charged with felony assault after beating

OTSELIC – A Town of Otselic man remains in custody at the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail following a May 22 altercation that resulted in the victim being airlifted to Upstate Hospital, Syracuse.
Michael Thiel, 38, was charged with second degree assault – a class D felony – following the alleged incident, during which the victim sustained serious injuries. The victim remains in serious condition awaiting surgery, according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.
Thiel was arraigned in the Town of Otselic Court and will appear in court at a later date.
