Two plead guilty in county court
NORWICH – Two individuals pleaded guilty in County Court on Friday to felonies and were sentenced to state prison.
Daniel Fiske, 67, pleaded guilty to three felony counts of third degree sexual abuse and was sentenced to three years in state prison following an agreed-upon disposition between the county’s district attorney’s and public defender’s offices. If successful, he will face ten years of post-release supervision.
In January, Fiske was charged with the felonies and two counts of endangering the welfare after he allegedly subjected three children under the age of 11 to sexual contact.
Devin White, 20, pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon and was sentenced to 3.5 years in state prison. White will face ten years of post-release supervision.
In December 2010, White was charged with second degree kidnapping, first degree unlawful imprisonment, and two counts of third degree criminal possession of a weapon. Following an armed confrontation with Norwich City Police, he was also charged with second degree menacing and criminal obstruction of breathing.
Victor Nino, 58, was instructed to make reparations in the amount of $76,000 by Sept. 17 for his part in a dental scheme last November. Nino, with Virgillia Taveras, 49, was charged with two counts of third degree grand larceny and unauthorized practice. If successful in making the payments, they will face five years of probation.
The case of Marvelous Williams, 24, was granted a two-week adjournment. Williams was charged with two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell and two counts of tampering with physical evidence.
Savannah Collins was also granted an adjournment until a new lawyer could be appointed due to a “conflict of interest,” according to Public Defender John Cameron. Collins was told to report to probation daily.
