LVCC’s Scrabble for Literacy set for Saturday

NORWICH – Literacy Volunteers of Chenango County will once again put vocabulary skills to the test as the agency gears up for another round of the annual Scrabble® for Literacy competition.

The 12th annual “Spellabration” will take place from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Community Room of Morrisville State College Norwich Campus, 20 Conkey Ave. Businesses and individuals interested in participating can register as a team or individually and join a team on the day of the event. Registration is $10 per person for early registration, $12 on the day of the event.

The event provides fun, snacks, raffles, and prizes for participants while also promoting literacy awareness and raising money for LVCC, which has helped adults enhance reading, writing and math skills for almost 30 years. Proceeds will be used to support program activities and purchase learning materials for students.

The agency is still seeking game participants, along with individuals and businesses willing to match donations made by a team of employees, become a Scrabble sponsor by making a donation to the Literacy Volunteers Program, or donate a gift certificate or items that could be used as door and raffle prizes.
