Milford Academy support Chenango United Way fundraising
NEW BERLIN – Since its establishment in New Berlin in 2004, Milford Academy has partnered with the Chenango United Way to improve the quality of life for Chenango residents.
Now, as Milfrord makes the final preparations for its annual Legends Dinner and its Hall of Fame induction ceremony for a new wave of Milford Academy alumni, the private institute is showing continued support of the area by donating proceeds from the event to the Chenango United Way.
“We’re very grateful to Milford Academy for their contributions to the United Way,” stated United Way Campaign Co-Chair TJ Moorehead.
“We are so happy for their contributions to our organization,” added United Way Director Elizabeth Monaco. “We’re proud to have them as a part of our community.”
The Legends Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center, 24 Market St. in Oneonta. Admission includes appetizers, full dinner, desert and the opportunity to rub elbows with some of the NFL’s finest. University of Connecticut Coach Paul Pasqualoni will be the keynote speaker for the evening.
Former Milford student Stefon Wheeler, a 2000 graduate who currently assists in coaching new players at the institution, is among a list of the 2012 Hall of Fame inductees and praises the school as a great contributer to players past and present.
“Milford’s done a lot for me ... It gives kids big exposure while they’re playing here – it’s a great a platform for players and coaches alike.”
“We’re expecting a really big crowd that evening,” noted Milford’s head coach William Chaplick. “We’re hoping to have a great event.”
Other 2012 Hall of Fame inductees include: Jeffrey Palmer, class of ‘75; Ollie Ogbu, class of ‘06; Jeremy Horne, class of ‘07; and the Milford class of 2011.
