Sherburne Lions Club holds Independence Day celebration
SHERBURNE – Since a very memorable 200th anniversary celebration in 1993, Sherburne has continued to go above and beyond for its 4th of July celebrations.
This year will be no different as the Sherburne Lions Club pulls out all the stops to celebrate our nation’s independence, said Kenneth Van Wagner.
“It’s a very special day-long event for the whole family,” said Van Wagner.
The day will begin at 10 a.m. with a series of Little League games featuring five local teams.
There will be free live music beginning at 10:30 a.m. that will feature local music groups, including favorites like Sundown and the Smyrna Citizens Band.
Van Wagner urged guests to come hungry for the 11 a.m. chicken barbecue. If chicken isn’t your thing, he said, there will be hamburgers, hotdogs and more at vendor booths around the park.
Finally, when the sun goes down, American Fireworks will put on a display that has slowly been increasing in size each year and will begin approximately at dusk, said Van Wagner.
“Especially noteworthy is our tremendous ground-level fireworks display which grows each year,” he said.
Admission to the event is free all day Wednesday.
