Youth Bureau ready to take on summer
NORWICH – With monetary support from the R.C. Smith Foundation and Beadles Lounge in Norwich, the City of Norwich Youth Bureau is making big plans for four exciting trips for local kids this summer.
This summer marks the 16th year that the youth bureau has been able to provide fun day-trips for kids residing in the City of Norwich and the townships of Norwich, North Norwich, Plymouth, Preston and Pharsalia. Since all trips are free with only a $5 deposit required per person, per trip – which will be returned the day of the trip – a fun time is sure to be had, said Youth Bureau Director Robert Mason.
Three of the four scheduled trips are new to the youth bureau this year. The outings begin on July 11 with a visit to the Lackawanna County Coal Mine in Scranton, PA. On July 25, kids will take the short ride to Ithaca for a tour of the Museum of the Earth and Taughannock Falls State Park. Then on August 8, kids will have an opportunity to explore science and space at the Kopernik Observatory in Binghamton.
