County amateur golf tournament slated for July 21
PLYMOUTH – Canasawacta Country Club will host the 2012 Chenango County Amateur, Saturday, July 21 with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
The format is nine holes, stroke play, for juniors ages 13 and under; 18 holes of stroke play in the men’s net (handicap), men’s seniors (age 50 and over), juniors ages 14-17, and women’s open divisions, and 36 holes in the men’s championship division. In the event of a tie for first place, winners will be decided by a sudden death playoff on holes one and 18. All other ties will split place money. Age is determined as of July 14, 2012.
For handicap tournament entries, a participant must have an established USGA handicap as of July 15. Players will forfeit their entry fees if a handicap cannot be verified.
Entries must be accompanied by entry fees and received no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, July 13. Mail checks to Canasawacta Country Club, 261 County Rd. 44, Norwich, NY 13815 or drop off check or cash at the pro shop. Please make all checks payable to Canasawacta C.C.
The entry fees are $15 for juniors 13-and-under; $30 for juniors 14-17, men’s handicap, women’s open, and men’s seniors; and $50 for the men’s championship. For dual entries, men’s senior/men’s net, the fee is $40; men’s open championship/men’s senior, $60; and men’s open/men’s net, $60.
In the event of a weather cancellation, 50 percent of entry fee will be refunded. If a player cancels before 5 p.m., July 2, 50 percent of the entry fee will also be refunded. No refunds will be issued after Tuesday, July 17 unless weather related.
Entry forms are available at Canasawacta Country Club, and will also appear in an upcoming issue of the Norwich Pennysaver. Tee times of the tournament will be posted after 5 p.m. on July 18 at the C.C.C. Pro Shop, and will also be printed in the sports section of The Evening Sun.
