No verdict reached in Wlasiuk murder trial

NORWICH – Acting Chenango County Court Judge Joseph Cawley has sent the jury in the third trial of alleged murderer Peter Wlasiuk home for the weekend following three weeks of testimony. Jury deliberations began at 9:50 a.m. today and ran until approximately 4 p.m., when the jury was dismissed. Jurors are not being sequestered and will return to their deliberations at 9 a.m. Monday, according to a representative of the Chenango County District Attorney’s Office.

Wlasiuk is accused of killing his wife, Patricia, on or about April 3, 2002, at the couple’s New Virginia Road home in Oxford. According to the Chenango County District Attorney’s Office, Wlasiuk then staged a Guilford Lake accident in an effort to cover up the crime. Wlasiuk has maintained that Patricia was driving his 1998 GMC pick-up truck when she lost control of the vehicle, swerving to miss a deer and veering into the lake, where she drowned.
