McBride files petitions for county court judge
NORWICH – The Friends of Joe McBride for County Court Judge announced Monday that designating petitions have been filed with the Chenango County Board of Elections to have McBride run for Chenango County Court Judge on the Republican, Conservative, and Independence Party lines.
“I am extremely pleased by the county-wide support that I have received. Republicans, Conservatives, and Independence Party members throughout Chenango County confirmed that they want to see me on the ballot in the fall and elected as the next Chenango County Court Judge,” McBride said in a press release issued yesterday. “I am also flattered that many Democrats told me that they would be supporting me as well. While I am fortunate to have this overwhelming voter support, I am blessed to have the support of my wife Lou Ann and my children Peter and Michael.”
McBride, who recently successfully completed the prosecution of the Peter Wlasiuk murder case in the Chenango County Court, also said, “For the past month. I have been involved in a major criminal trial in Chenango County Court and have had limited ability to get out and meet my many supporters. Now that the trial is over, I look forward to traveling throughout the county and talking to people about my commitment to public service, my desire to be the Chenango County Court Judge, and why I am the most qualified for this very unique and challenging position.”
The Republican Primary in New York State will be held on Sept. 13. McBride faces a challenger in fellow Republican Frank Revoir. Diane DiStefano recently announced her decision to run on the Democratic ticket in the November election.
All three are running to succeed the Hon. W. Howard Sullivan, the current Chenango County Court Judge who is retiring at the end of this year.
