Chenango County Buildings and Grounds Director Julie Gates enjoyed the fun part of her job Monday atop a massive crane over West Side Park in downtown Norwich. Operator and contractor Nick America of Steeple Jacks of America gave her a ride to get a closer look at the badly-weathered dome and statue of Lady Justice. The uppermost portion of the Chenango County Courthouse will undergo a rejuvenation soon with a re-gilding of the gold dome, just in time for the 175th anniversary of the structure this year.
