NORWICH - It’s been a hot, dry summer. Gardeners have had a difficult time keeping their flowers watered and sadly, some have been forced to stop. But hopefully with the heavy rainfall Tuesday and scattered showers throughout the week, many colorful posies have started to perk up.

And just in time for next week’s Chenango County Fair Flower Show, “Along the Chenango.” Members of all five garden clubs of Chenango County - North Norwich, Norwich, Town and County, Oxford and Greene - have been busy cleaning, mopping and setting up the display areas to prepare Floral Hall for what’s become a very popular attraction at the fair.

Entry forms will be accepted at the fairground’s office until 6 tonight and again tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon. Both horticulture and design entries will be placed on display Sunday night from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Monday morning from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Judging begins promptly at 1 p.m. Monday, the day of the show.
