Motorcycle driver remains in serious condition
NORTH NORWICH – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of two people injured in a motorcycle versus deer accident that occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday on County Road 44 in the Town of North Norwich.
The driver of the motorcycle, William Ulrich Sr., 70, of South Otselic, was transported to Sherburne before being airlifted via helicopter to Upstate Medical in Syracuse with serious injuries. His wife, Roberta, was taken by ambulance to Chenango Memorial Hospital. Both were thrown from the motorcycle when Mr. Ulrich struck a deer in the roadway, losing control of the vehicle while travelling westward on County Road 44.
William Ulrich remains in serious condition, according to Upstate Medical, with injuries to his head and chest. His wife – who has yet to be released – was treated for injuries to her arms and legs. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the accident, said authorities.
