Letter to the Editor: Thanks for Earlville concert help
Editor,
The Earlville events committee had two weeks to put a last minute special event together. We rushed to put up posters and get the word out and hoped people would see them and join us August 15th. Cassidy Lynn and Skyline came to Earlville! What a night! Great music, a good crowd of close to 200 people having lots of fun and no rain! A huge thank you to Cassidy Lynn and Skyline for taking time out of their busy schedule to put on an awesome show for us. Thank you to Brian Aikins for contacting me and setting this up and for the posters. It really was a great night.
I also need to thank my fellow committee members, the Earlville Fire Company for selling food and the Fire Police for directing traffic. And parking cars. One way in, one way out worked. Good job guys. Thank you to our new member, Amber Excell and her mom Linda for selling 50/50 raffle tickets, Mark Corbitt for setting up his food wagon, The Huff Brau for lending us their stage and for renting the tent, the Sons of the American Legion, Bill Morgan, Dave Jones and Tom Zdanowicz for setting up the tent, the village crew for all their help .and Warren Bunn for taking pictures and donating the CD to us. Thank you to all who came and to anyone I may have forgotten.
Without the help from my fellow committee members and volunteers, the generosity of all the businesses and individuals who have made donations, events like this couldn’t happen. Thank you!
I would like to apologize to anyone who might have been upset by the bus garage parking lot being blocked off for the Cassidy Lynn concert. It was done to prevent speeding cars and traffic jams which was a problem after the Earlville Days fireworks. We needed to control traffic and wanted one way in and one way out for everyone’s safety, and it worked.
The events committee’s next event is the Winterfest Celebration in December. More information will be in my next column.
