Kicinski to continue campaign

EARLVILLE – Michael Kicinski of Earlville will continue his campaign as a write-in candidate for New York’s 22nd District.
Kicinski was on the ballot for the Republican primary in June against the incumbent U.S. Rep. Richard Hanna of Barneveld. Overall the district, the tea party favorite had 30 percent of the votes. He earned 46 percent and 42 percent of the votes in Chenango and Madison counties, respectfully.
During the campaigning and petitioning, Kicinski said he spoke to thousands who voiced their opinions on the issues and who encouraged him to run as a write-in candidate.
“The response has been overwhelmingly positive," he said. “There are so many complaints about both parties, and talk that we need a third candidate. We will continue so the voters have the best choice for their voice, their representation in Congress.”
Hanna will seek re-election in November against Democratic challenger Dan Lamb, a former aide to retiring Rep. Maurice Hinchey, D-Saugerties, and Kicinski.
