Extended tryouts for travel softball team
NORWICH – The Southern Hills Fury travel softball team has extended its tryouts for those who were unable to attend the initial tryouts earlier this month.
The Fury’s 16-and-under team has nearly a complete roster, but roster spots are still available for the 12-and-under club. The tryout is this Sunday, Sept. 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Norwich High School’s softball field. Girls from Oxford, Unadilla Valley, Norwich, and Otego have attended tryouts, and all girls are welcome to attend. Players trying out for the 12U team must not turn age 13 before Jan. 1, 2013.
Chargers hosting trip to MLS game
OXFORD – The Chenango Chargers Soccer Club is planning a bus trip to a Major League Soccer (MLS) game Saturday, Oct. 27 at Philadelphia’s PPL Stadium where the Philadelphia Union will host the New York Red Bulls.
The bus for the trip will leave from Howard Johnson’s rear parking lot in Norwich at 7:30 a.m. for the 1:30 p.m. match. Food stops will be made on the way down and on the return trip to Norwich. The cost for the trip is $55 per person, and that includes a game ticket and the bus ride.
