Letter to the Editor: The Joe McBride that I know

Editor,
To the voters of Chenango County:
I would like to take this opportunity to strongly recommend you vote for Joe McBride as Chenango County Judge in both the upcoming primaries and the general election. My name is Sal Testani and I have lived in this area for almost my whole life. I was originally reluctant to write a letter of support for Joe because our families have been friends for almost twenty years. However, I realized that I am very capable of telling others what type of person Joe is at his core. I would like to share some of the admirable characteristics that I feel Joe McBride would bring to this very important position. Nowhere in this letter will I attack the other candidates who are running against Joe. I believe that to be wrong and contrary to the type of community we live in. I will simply tell you about the Joe McBride I know and hopefully, it will help you make a more informed decision when you cast your vote.
Our County Judge needs to be someone who is truly committed to the well being of the people of the community. Joe McBride has clearly demonstrated that commitment. In addition to the excellent job he has done in serving the people of our county as District Attorney, Joe has also been involved in many other community-oriented activities. He has been a coach and volunteer at our local YMCA because of desire to have a positive influence on his and other children. Joe has served on the Norwich City School board in an effort to help the district in some very challenging times. These are only two of the many examples where Joe has given of himself and his time to make our community a better place. He has done so because he cares deeply about the community he lives in. He will bring that care for the residents of Chenango County to the role of County Judge.
In addition to the characteristics mentioned above, I also believe our County Judge should have a very high ethical standard and a great deal of integrity. I can assure you these are qualities that Joe McBride prides himself on, In various settings, Joe is often asked to discuss on going court cases and police investigations. Without fail, he refuses to discuss these matters out of respect for those involved. I have personally heard him discuss his ethical standards and the high standard to which elected officials must hold themselves. This is just one example of the type of behavior I have witnessed Joe demonstrate in his daily life. I know this is how he will conduct himself once he is elected. I am certain Joe McBride will carry out the responsibilities of the Chenango County Judge with great integrity.
These are just some of the personal characteristics I know Joe will bring to this role or any other position of responsibility he serves in. When you couple these characteristics with the exceptional experience he has, I believe Joe McBride is the obvious choice for Chenango County Judge. Please turn out to vote in the Republican Primary on September 13 and in the general election in November and have your voice heard.
