Cyclones record two wins at Camden

CAMDEN – The Cyclones “C “ team rolled to its second win this season beating rival Camden 26-6 on Saturday.
J.T. Vinal took the opening kickoff to the 20-yard line, with Jacob Davis scoring the first Cyclones touchdown of the day from the two-yard line. Elijah Rodriguez added the extra point. Dante Geslinger added a one-yard touchdown, also in the first, with Colin Montgomery scoring in the second on an eight-yard run for a 20-0 halftime lead. Vinal added a two-yard scoring run in the fourth to finish the scoring.
On defense, David Berger, Noah Bufalini, Carson Maynard, Benson McGillicuddy, Kyle Shepard, and Cameron Byrne had big days, with Nicholas Loscavio and Nathan Parry recovering Camden fumbles.
The Cyclones “B” team won 31-0. Drew Walsh had a pair of first quarter touchdowns runs from 45 and 13 yards out. Cameron Ivan added a pair of two-pont point-after kicks, all in the first quarter.
Payton Stirone had a 38-yard TD run in the second with Ivan adding the kick. The Cyclones finished their scoring with Austin Foulds scoring on a one-yard run. Neither team scored in the second half
Noah Marvin, Jacob Burlison, Cristobal Caballero, and Carter Rudnitski led the Cyclones defense.
The Cyclones “A” team game was a contest between two of the league’s premier teams with the Cyclones falling to the Blue Devils, 6-2. With the score tied 0-0 at halftime in a hard-fought defensive struggle, Cole Rifanburg and Nick Stirone ran well for Norwich. Quarterback Zack Race completed several passes as the Cyclones moved the ball between the 20s. The Cyclones reached the Devil half-yard line only to run out of downs in the third quarter.
The Cyclones scored their first points in the fourth quarter sacking the Camden quarterback to make it 6-2 early in the fourth.
Stirone, with a big interception in the endzone, led the Cyclones defense. Alex Wehrli also had a fumble recovery in the defeat.
The Norwich “D” team had a great day in a non-scoring scrimmage.
The Cyclones are at home this weekend Sunday, Sept. 16. The D team will play at 9 a.m, the C team at 11 a.m., and B team at 1 p.m., all versus Whitestown. The A team will play Ilion at 3 p.m.
