NORWICH – As planned, Chenango County Historical Society Allan Estus tendered his resignation at the end of August after two and half years of service.

His resignation came as little surprise to the CCHS board, which had been planning for his departure for months, knowing that when Estus entered into the position, it was only to be a temporary standing.

“The original agreement was that I step in as director for two years,” explained Estus. “I accomplished what I wanted to get done there and now it’s time to get the organization on to the next level.”

To adjust to the change, the CCHS board will be sharing the duties of the director with museum curator Meghan Molloy – who accepted a full-time position at the museum – and CCHS educator Sarah Mahan. The executive board will take on administrative duties while Molloy and Mahan take the reigns of daily operations at the museum.

“We’re both going to be sharing different parts of the job,” Molloy said, sharing that she will be responsible for the inner workings of the museum while Mahan – who is currently on maternity leave – takes on community outreach. She added that Mahan’s responsibilities may be amended, too, but details will not be finalized until she returns from leave.
